United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s leading flag carrier, Emirates Airline, is all set to dive into the digital asset space by leveraging cryptocurrencies, NFTs, and the metaverse.

The entry is part of its strategy “to connect with customers in a faster and more flexible way,” said the извештај.

Emirates will start its foray into the cryptocurrency industry by soon introducing Bitcoin as a payment method. The company will also add NFT collectibles on its website for trading. As such, the airliner, headquartered in Dubai, noted that it will onboard new staff for metaverse and NFTs.

Adel Ahmed Al-Redha, the Chief Operating Officer, said the main objective behind the move is to build applications to keep a track of various client needs. He also explained that the airline will leverage blockchain technology to trace records of aircraft.

Embracing Advanced Tech

The development comes a month after Emirates открила that it plans to launch NFTs and experiences in the metaverse for its customers and employees. Embracing the digital asset space is aligned with the UAE’s vision for the digital economy, the company previously explained.

In line with it, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive at Emirates Airline and Group, also asserted that the company had adopted advanced technologies to ramp up its business processes, improve customer offering, and upgrade the employees’ skills and experiences. He added,

“We are excited about the opportunities in the digital space of the future and are committing a significant investment in financial and resourcing terms, to develop products and services using advanced technologies that will deliver on revenue, brand experience, and business efficiencies.”

The airline also said it will continue to collaborate with industry partners to boost its Web3 strategy while hiring new talent for its upcoming initiatives.
