Шпански клупски фудбалски тим РЦД Еспаниол ће постати први који ће прихватити крипто плаћања

RCD Espanyol has teamed up with Crypto Snack to become the first La Liga club to accept bitcoin as a form of ticket payment.

RCD Espanyol, a professional soccer team based in Catalonia, Spain, will accept a number of cryptocurrencies as payment for game tickets, merchandise, and food & beverages.

With the start of the next La Liga season, the offering will be available (August 2022).

Collaboration with various crypto firms

Digital assets and the soccer industry have formed a tight relationship in recent months.

Several clubs from across the world have formed partnerships with bitcoin businesses, introduced cryptocurrency exchanges as sponsors, or accepted cryptocurrency as a payment method.

The main soccer league in Spain, La Liga, has not been as active in the sector.

According to a recent press release, this tendency will change this summer when RCD Espanyol allows fans to purchase tickets, food, and beverage during games, and goods in bitcoin, ether, and other digital currencies.

The club collaborated on this with Crypto Snack, a financial app based in Barcelona and Estonia.

SNACK, the company’s native iGaming token, is traded on a number of major exchanges.

The item will be added to the package, allowing fans to make payments using it.

The arrangement will provide “huge advantages both on and off the pitch,” according to Mao Ye Wu, CEO of RCD Espanyol, providing soccer fans more options when attending a game.

Crypto Snack CEO Stuart Morrison expressed his delight at the opportunity to engage with one of Spain’s most popular soccer clubs. He hopes the scheme will give Espanyol fans a “fun and efficient way to support their team by utilizing SNACK and other cryptocurrencies.”

Tigres now accept Bitcoin

Another soccer powerhouse, the Mexican Tigres, has allowed supporters to purchase match tickets in bitcoin.

To make it possible, the team worked with Bitso, a Latin American digital asset exchange.

The cooperation with Tigres, according to Daniel Vogel, Co-Founder, and CEO of the platform, would enhance the usage of cryptocurrencies in sports events on a regular basis, “thus broadening its use as a payment option for any type of event.”
